This is a summary, not the contract. Your contract is the Order Form you sign plus our Terms of Business. If this page and the Terms ever say different things, the Terms apply. Each point below links to the clause it comes from. We work with businesses and the self-employed, not consumers (clause 1).
What you get
- A website built to one of three packages: Launch, Local Pro or Local Plus. Schedule 1 lists exactly what's in each, and how many working days it takes (Schedule 1).
- A Care Plan that keeps it running: hosting, your domain, security, daily backups and monthly minutes of changes (Schedule 2).
- Rounds of revisions before launch: 2 on Launch, 3 on Local Pro, 3 on Local Plus (clause 4).
- Nothing extra without your OK: anything outside the package is quoted first, and we start only when you approve it by email (clause 3).
What you pay, and when
- The recommended pairs:
- Launch + Essential: £590 + £39/month (3-month minimum). Minimum total £707 · First year £1,058.
- Local Pro + Growth: £1,290 + £79/month (3-month minimum). Minimum total £1,527 · First year £2,238.
- Local Plus + Partner: £2,490 + £179/month (3-month minimum). Minimum total £3,027 · First year £4,638.
- Any build can go with any Care Plan. All prices are on our pricing page.
- The build, in stages: Launch, 50% when you sign and 50% when you accept the finished site. Local Pro, 50% when you sign and 50% when you accept the finished site. Local Plus, 40% when you sign, 30% when you approve the design and 30% when you accept the finished site. We put the site live once it's paid (clause 7).
- Your first payment pays for real work: planning and design. It isn't a deposit you lose for nothing (clause 8).
- The Care Plan: paid in advance, monthly or yearly, by card or Direct Debit, starting on launch day (clause 7).
- Prefer to spread it out? Launch Monthly is £89/month for 12 months (total £1,068), then £39/month. Local Pro Monthly is £189/month for 12 months (total £2,268), then £79/month. Local Plus Monthly is £389/month for 12 months (total £4,668), then £179/month. Your site goes live once you've accepted it and made your first payment (clause 10).
- Invoices are due within 7 days. Late payments can carry interest at 8% a year above the Bank of England base rate, plus fixed recovery charges. If a bill is still unpaid 14 days after we remind you, we can pause work or the site (clause 9).
- Think a bill is wrong? Tell us within 14 days. You pay the rest as normal while we sort it out (clause 31).
- Currency and VAT: all prices are in pounds (GBP). VAT status: Not VAT-registered. You don't need a VAT number or a company number to order (clause 1 and clause 30).
How long it lasts
- Care Plans: a 3-month minimum from launch, then month to month (clause 10).
- No-build-fee plans: 12 monthly payments. After that, the site is yours and the monthly price drops. You can leave earlier, with or without the site (see “How to leave”) (clause 10).
- Price rises: at most once a year, by 5% at most, with 30 days' notice. You can cancel before a rise applies (clause 10).
How to leave
- Cancel your Care Plan after the minimum term by email, with 30 days' notice. There's no exit fee (clause 10).
- Take everything with you: your domain transfer code, your content and, once your build is paid for, a full copy of your site's files and a list of licences. It's free, and arrives within 5 working days, once any undisputed bills are paid (clause 27).
- Cancel a build before launch: you pay for the work done so far at our hourly rate (never more than the build price, and the full price once you've accepted the finished site) and any costs we've committed for you. We refund the rest (clause 26).
- Leave a no-build-fee plan early: pay £50 (Launch Monthly), £110 (Local Pro Monthly) or £210 (Local Plus Monthly) for each payment left and keep the site, or leave without it after at least 3 payments. If we end the plan early, the site becomes yours without a buy-out (clause 10).
- If we're slow: if we miss our Care Plan response targets 3 times in 3 months, you can leave straight away (clause 12).
- If either of us seriously breaks the contract and doesn't fix it within 14 days, the other can end it (clause 26).
- A 14-day cooling-off for us: in the first 14 days after signing, we can step back from a project without giving a reason. If we do, we refund every penny you've paid within 5 working days, and any domain we registered stays yours (clause 26.6).
- Hosting comes with the Care Plan: we host your site while a Care Plan runs. When it ends, you get your files and host it anywhere. We can move it for you at our hourly rate (clause 25).
Who owns what
- Your domain is registered in your name from day one (clause 25).
- Your site: the design, words and code made for you become yours once the build is paid in full, or after payment 12 on a no-build-fee plan. The copyright transfer is in the Order Form you sign (clause 19).
- Our building blocks (templates and reusable code) stay ours, but you get a free, permanent licence to use them with your site, anywhere (clause 19).
- Your content (your words, photos and logo) stays yours (clause 18).
- AI tools: we use them for first drafts of text, translations, code and some illustrations and videos, and a person checks everything. We tell you where AI-made parts are used. They may not be protected by copyright, so we can't promise they're exclusive to you (clause 19).
- Our portfolio: we may show your site unless you opt out on the Order Form. A “Website by” credit on your site is only added if you ask for it (clause 20).
What we promise, and what we don’t
- Our 7 promises: see it before you pay; a fixed price in writing; on time, or your first month of care is free; a fast homepage; the domain and site are yours; a fair exit; and a reply within 1 working day. Each has written conditions and one clear remedy (our promises, clause 13).
- We don't promise rankings, calls, bookings or revenue. Google, maps and AI assistants are run by other companies, and nobody can honestly promise results from them (clause 14).
- Uptime and response times are targets, not guarantees (clause 12 and clause 25).
- Your legal duties stay yours. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA and give you privacy templates, but we can't promise your site meets every law that applies to your business (clause 23 and clause 24).
If something goes wrong
In one sentence: our total liability for all claims together is limited to what you paid or owed us in the 12 months before the problem, or £2,500 if that's more; we're not responsible for indirect losses such as lost profits; and nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit (clause 16).
You're responsible for the content you give us and for the claims on your site (clause 17 and clause 18).
Your data
- Your customers' details: when our work involves them, for example through your enquiry form, we only use them on your instructions, under our Data Processing Addendum (clause 22).
- Your own details: our privacy notice explains how we use them.
The law and complaints
- English law: the contract is under the law of England and Wales, and its courts decide disputes. We'll always try to sort things out by talking first, then mediation if we both agree (clause 33).
- Complaints: email hello@northpin.studio with “Complaint” in the subject. We acknowledge it within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 30 days (clause 32).
- Translations: if a translation differs from the English version, the English version applies (clause 33).

Your contract is the Order Form you sign, together with the Terms of Business and their Schedules. Nothing is agreed until both of us have signed the Order Form.
