About the test

What the four scores mean

The check uses Google PageSpeed Insights, the same test Google offers to anyone. Each score is out of 100.

  • Performance

    How quickly your page appears and responds on a mid-range phone with a mobile connection. It's the score most tied to people waiting or leaving.

  • SEO

    Whether the basics Google needs are in place: a title, a description, links it can follow, and a page it's allowed to show.

  • Accessibility

    Whether everyone can use the page, including people with poor eyesight or who use a screen reader. Readable text and clear buttons help every visitor.

  • Best practices

    Security and modern standards: a secure connection, no errors in the page, and nothing outdated that browsers warn about.

What this check can't tell you

  • It's a lab test on one simulated phone. Real visitors may see your site load faster or slower.
  • It doesn't look at your Google Business Profile, your reviews or your prices.
  • It can't tell whether your words make people pick up the phone. That part needs a human eye.

Questions about the website check

What happens to my website address?
Your browser sends it straight to Google PageSpeed Insights, which loads your page to test it. It doesn't pass through our servers, and we don't store it or use it to contact you. Google's privacy policy applies to the test itself.
Why is the mobile score lower than on a computer?
The test uses a simulated mid-range phone on a slower mobile connection. That's closer to how many customers see your site after finding you on Google Maps, so it's the score that matters most.
Why did my score change when I ran it again?
Each test loads your site fresh, and network and server speeds vary a little. A change of a few points is normal. Look at the fixes, not one number.
The check didn't finish. What now?
Google limits how many tests can run at once. Wait a few minutes and try again. If your site still won't load in the test, check the address works in your own browser.
