We want everyone to be able to use this website. That includes people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control or screen magnification. This statement covers northpin.studio in all four of its languages.
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. WCAG is the international standard for accessible websites, published by the W3C.
How well this website meets the standard
We believe this website partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 level AA. “Partially” means most of the site meets the standard, but a few parts may not yet. We list them below, under “Known limitations”.
This is our own assessment. We check the site with automated testing tools, and by hand with a keyboard and with the page zoomed in. The site hasn't had an independent audit yet.
What we've done
- Clear structure. Pages use proper headings, landmarks and lists, and a “Skip to content” link lets you jump past the menu.
- Keyboard access. Everything works with a keyboard alone, and you can always see where you are, thanks to a clear focus outline.
- Readable colours. Text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background. We don't rely on colour alone to show meaning.
- Text that resizes. Body text is at least 16 pixels. Pages reflow on small screens and when you zoom in, so you shouldn't need to scroll sideways to read.
- Calm motion. Animations are short and small. If your device is set to reduce motion, we switch them off. Video never plays by itself, and nothing is designed to flash.
- No accessibility overlays. We don't use overlay widgets that claim to fix accessibility. They don't fix the underlying code, and they can get in the way of the tools you already use. We fix problems in the site itself.
- Text alternatives. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Usable forms. Every form field has a visible label. Errors are explained in words, not just colour, and there are no CAPTCHA puzzles.
- No time limits. Nothing on this site times out or moves on before you're ready.
- The right language. Each page says which language it's in, so screen readers can pronounce it properly.
Known limitations
- Our intro animation. Our short intro animation has no speech or meaningful sound, so it doesn't need captions. A text description sits next to it, and it only plays when you press play.
- Concept example sites. Our demo websites for fictional businesses are showcases. They're built to the same standard, but we check them less often than our main pages. Some features on them are placeholders, such as booking or contact forms that don't send anything.
- PDF versions. PDF copies of our agreements are made from the web pages. The web page is always the most accessible version.
- Other websites and services. We link to sites we don't control, such as Companies House. The results in our website check tool come from Google PageSpeed Insights.
If you find a problem that isn't listed here, please tell us.

Websites we build for clients
Every website we build is designed to WCAG 2.2 AA at launch. That covers our design, templates and code.
Content added after launch, and third-party tools such as booking widgets, review widgets or maps, can affect how accessible a site is. We don't give a warranty that a client's site complies with any particular law, such as the Equality Act 2010, the European Accessibility Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act. A formal accessibility audit isn't included, but we're happy to quote for one. Our Terms of Business have the full details.
