Thursdays & Saturdays · from 9.30pm

Fado vadio nights

Not a show — an evening. Neighbourhood fadistas, a Portuguese guitar and a classical guitar, and anyone with a voice can ask to sing. No cover charge for the music: you only pay for what you eat and drink.

When someone sings, the room goes quiet. It’s the only house rule.

Before you come

Questions first-timers ask

Do I really need to book?

Weekday lunch, there’s nearly always a table. For Friday and Saturday dinner and fado nights, book — the room seats 38 and the terrace fills early. We hold tables for 15 minutes.

Is the couvert compulsory?

No. Bread, olives and herb butter arrive at the table, but you only pay if you touch them (€2.50 per person). If you don’t want them, just say so and we’ll take them back.

Do you have vegetarian options?

Yes: peixinhos da horta, charred vegetables with goat’s cheese, Azeitão cheese and every dessert. For a vegan meal, mention it when you book and the kitchen will cook something separately.

Can I bring children?

Of course. We have high chairs and a half portion of any grilled dish. On fado nights we ask the whole room to stay quiet while someone sings — little ones included.

Is the tavern wheelchair accessible?

There are two steps at the entrance and we have a portable ramp; the toilet is on the same floor. The Adega is downstairs and reached only by stairs. Let us know and we’ll set your table by the door.

Do you take cards?

Yes, we accept debit and credit cards and mobile payments. We never ask for a card to book.

What if it rains?

The terrace on the square runs from April to October. If it rains, we move your table inside — your booking stands.
